Choose a pricing model, tier structure, and monetization plan for a product. — Claude Skill

A Claude Skill for Claude Code by PluginAgent Marketplace — run /pricing in Claude·Updated Jun 14, 2026·vmain@03e84ec

Helps product and business teams compare freemium, subscription, usage-based, tiered, and value-based pricing using value metrics, customer segments, and unit economics.

  • Compares pricing models against customer value, adoption friction, revenue predictability, and operational complexity.
  • Defines value metrics and tier boundaries so customers understand why they pay more.
  • Checks monetization choices against LTV, CAC, payback, and expansion assumptions.
  • Produces a pricing decision memo that non-finance stakeholders can review.
YouToday

A team copies competitor pricing or picks a simple number without packaging logic.

With /pricing

Run /pricing to compare pricing models and design tiers around value, segments, costs, and expansion.

See skills for this role

What it does

New product monetization

Pick an initial pricing model and tier structure before launch.

Packaging redesign

Redesign tiers when customers do not understand the upgrade path.

Pricing model comparison

Compare freemium, subscription, and usage-based pricing for the same product.

How it works

1

Collect target customers, product value, current monetization, competitor anchors, costs, and growth goals.

2

Evaluate subscription, freemium, usage-based, tiered, and value-based options.

3

Choose value metrics, packaging logic, and tier boundaries.

4

Write the recommended pricing model, risks, launch test, and metrics to monitor.

5

Flag what finance, sales, support, and legal need to review before launch.

Input options

Product value

What customers get and which outcome they pay for.

Example

What the user pastes
Product: onboarding analytics add-on.
Customers: SMB teams and enterprise CS orgs.
Value: finds stalled customer onboarding and shows executives which accounts need intervention.
Current idea: $99/month flat add-on.
Competitor anchors: $20-30 per user/month for broader onboarding platforms.
Concerns: SMBs need easy entry; enterprises care about reporting, SSO, admin controls, and procurement.
Need: pricing model recommendation, tier boundaries, risks, and launch test.
Useful result
Pricing model recommendation
Use tiered subscription pricing tied to number of customer accounts monitored, not a flat add-on. The value metric should scale with the number of onboarding journeys the customer manages, which is easier to explain than per-seat pricing for an analytics add-on.
Suggested tier logic
| Tier | Best for | Packaging logic | Watchout |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | SMB teams | Limited monitored accounts, core alerts, basic report | Keep entry price simple |
| Growth | CS teams | More accounts, segment filters, trend reports, integrations | Main conversion tier |
| Enterprise | Large orgs | SSO, admin controls, custom reporting, procurement support | Needs sales-assisted pricing |
Why not flat $99/month
A flat add-on may be easy to sell to small teams but underprices enterprise accounts and does not explain expansion. It also makes high-usage customers look artificially cheap.
Launch test
Test Starter and Growth packaging with 10 SMB opportunities and 10 mid-market opportunities. Measure conversion, upgrade intent, discount requests, and whether buyers understand the monitored-account value metric.
Review checklist
Finance: confirm margin at expected usage. Sales: test upgrade language. Support: confirm whether higher tiers create onboarding burden. Legal: review Enterprise procurement and SSO terms.

Metrics this improves

Conversion Rate
Helps design pricing tests around buyer conversion and upgrade behavior.
Product & Engineering
Forecast Accuracy
Makes pricing assumptions explicit for revenue planning.

Value-Based Pricing

Formula:

Your Price = (Customer Value Delivered) × (Capture Rate)

Example:
Customer saves $100K/year with your product
You capture 10% = $10K/year price

Price Sensitivity Analysis

  1. At what price is this too expensive?
  2. At what price is this too cheap?
  3. At what price is this expensive but worth it?
  4. At what price is this a bargain?

Unit Economics

Key Metrics

LTV = ARPU × Gross Margin % / Churn %

Example:
$100 ARPU × 80% GM / 5% churn = $1,600 LTV

CAC Target: LTV/3 = $533 max CAC
Payback: 12 months max
